Heather Charecky

Assistant Coach / Field Events

Assistant Coach Heather has eleven years experience as a Track and Field Athlete.  She first discovered her love of Track & Field in Middle School, where she was a sprinter and high jumper.  In High School, Coach Heather continued as a Varsity Sprinter and Long Jumper.  At the US Air Force Academy, she became one of the first female collegiate Triple Jumpers, and held the Academy Track & Field record in the Triple Jump for over two years.  During her 21 years of active duty in the Air Force, Coach Heather continued to run and study physical fitness and strength training strategies independently.  Coach Heather has been the Head Sprints & Field Event Coach at West Springfield High School for the past 5 years, and has helped lead the Spartan team to several District and Regional Championships and trained many State and National level athletes.  She has coached SYC recreational track since 2018 and has been with VA House of Speed since the team’s inception in 2021.

Coach Heather’s passion for Track & Field is mirrored in her deep-rooted desire to raise a healthy and mentally strong next generation of student athletes.  Coach Heather and her husband of 27 years, Mike, have two children, Michael and Alexandra.  Michael ran Track & Field at West Springfield HS and was recruited as a Pole Vaulter for the University of Lynchburg where he studies Physics and Math.  Alexandra began running SYC Recreational track in 2018, and has continued both as an inaugural athlete for the VA House of Speed and the West Springfield High School Varsity Track team; she is a National Champion in Pole vault and an All-American in Triple Jump.
