The VA House of Speed (VAHoS) started in 2021 to offer exceptionally talented and committed athletes in Fairfax and surrounding counties a track & field program able to compete on a national scale. The VAHoS is registered as the VA House of Speed under the Amateur Athletic Association (AAU) Junior Olympics, and we engage in competitions sanctioned by both AAU and USA Track and Field (USATF). We are also listed as the Virginia (VA) House of Speed on MileSplit VA.

The History of the VA House of Speed

The VA House of Speed began in the Spring of 2021 as a pilot travel club that was part of the Springfield/South County Youth Rec Track Club.  In our first season, we had 23 athletes ranging from ages 7-17, and of those athletes that competed in the 2021 AAU Northern Virginia District Qualifier Meet, a majority made it to Regionals, and we took over 50% of the team to the AAU Junior Olympic Championships. As we continued throughout 2021 into the 2022 Season including 2021 AAU Cross Country National Championships, 2022 Indoor and Outdoor season, the VA House of Speed athletes achieved personal records and qualified in the top 10, 15th, 20th and 30th in the nation. Overall, for first full season the 2021-22 Season – the VA House of Speed had 12 AAU All-Americans (Top 8 in the country) along with an Indoor National Champion!

In 2022 we expanded to a total of 40 athletes; however, we intend to keep the team on the smaller end to provide more individualized coaching for the student athletes. Already, we have 2 Indoor National Champions and a 2-time National Champion along with several All-Americans on the team.  You may be aware of other larger Track clubs that have upwards of 100 or more, but that is not the intention for this team.  We also happen to be one of the only AAU Junior Olympic travel clubs in the Springfield area that incorporates all distance levels and field events.

Further, since the VA House of Speed trains athletes beginning in elementary through High School we hope and encourage our team members that are in middle school to continue to be a part of the team through High School.  Moreover, as a travel team with elementary, middle and high school students, we realize that many of our athletes compete in other sports.  We do our best to accommodate this and encourage diversity in sports.
