Overall, this season, HOS athletes competed almost every weekend since the beginning of April and have been working hard – winning their events or placing in in the top 3 in almost every event entered throughout the season! The House of Speed has always been about putting in the effort, not just about winning: and our athletes did both this season!
The Virginia House of Speed Travel Track team has had a spectacular 2023 Outdoor Track & Field season so far with more to come this summer as we head to the 2023 AAU National Junior Olympic Championship Meet in Des Moines, Iowa starting July 29th!
2023 AAU Northern Virginia District Meet
Qualifying for the 2023 AAU National Junior Olympics began with the AAU Northern Virginia District meet on June 11, 2023. VA House of Speed took 34 athletes and ALL of them – 100% – qualified for the 2023 AAU Region 5 Qualifier meet!
- 10 Second place finishes
- 20 first place finishes
- 13 third place finishes
The last stepping stone to Junior Olympics wrapped up June 22-25, 2023 at the Region 5 Qualifier in Richmond, VA. Going into Regionals, HOS Athletes had high hopes, and these hopes became reality with almost every athlete achieving a personal record in one of their events! Of the 32 athletes who competed in the Regional Qualifier meet – 24 athletes qualified for the Championships! Athletes powered through rain, heat & multi-day events with flying colors.
2023 AAU Region 5 Qualifier Meet
House of Speed took 32 athletes to compete during the 2023 AAU Regional Qualifier Meet in Richmond, VA from June 22-June 25th. Over these 4-days, the team not only survived the elements, but did so in incredible fashion with almost 75% making it to the 2023 AAU National Junior Olympic Championships and most competing athletes achieving personal records!
Of the 24 athletes that made it to the Junior Olympics Meet, we finished with:
- 9 First place finishes
- 18 Second place finishes
- 7 Third place finishes!
Congratulations to the entire HOS team and the parents who have committed their time and effort to not only make it to practices throughout the week, but for all the travel to the Invitationals and AAU District, Regional and Junior Olympic Championship Meets!
